The Stars Have It!

Well, today I reached my lifetime goal - I have lost 13.7 pounds in 5 months. Even though that amounts to only 2.7 pounds per month, it's quite a milestone for me. I haven't weighed this little since Madelyn was 1 year old (except for 5 minutes when I taught seminary for the first time and forgot to eat). I can't really believe how excited I am. I pulled up my stars on the Weight Watchers tracker and I've been looking at them on and off all day.

Seems like a silly thing for a 60+ year old woman to be excited by stars. But it does feel like I have my own personal cheerleaders. I just can't stop looking at them. I had to show them to Lily when she got here after school, and I'm saving them to show to Robert when he gets home tomorrow. Wahoo!! Yippee!! And all that jazz.

Here are a few things I've learned: counting things counts (nuts, crackers, french fries; potato chips); I can live without things I thought I couldn't live without - they're not even tempting to me; portions are important; I can eat less and still feel satisfied - both physically and emotionally; I can still have cravings - I don't have to deny them or ignore them - without giving in to them completely; snacking is good - grazing for anything is bad; planning is tantamount to long range success. And all these lessons can be applied to life. What could be better?

And what a bargain for $10/week.
